What the heck is Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and why you should care.

How do you find what you're looking for on the Internet?  Do you type in the exact address of the need you're looking to fill or do you Google a need?  I'll bet it's the latter...as most of your customers would say. 

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) refers to where your website shows up on a search using Google, Yahoo, MSN or any of the other popular search engines.  Most people will only go through the first thirty listings at most in order to find what they're looking for.  The closer you are to the top of the returned results for a search, the better your odds of getting more customers looking for what you have to offer.

There are reasons that those showing at the top of the listings are there.  They did the work necessary to be there.  What might that be worth to you to be there?  Will you call the thirtieth listing to order a pizza or the first?
